Medical & Graduate School
From 2000-2008 Dr. Motola received training in the Medical Scientist Training Program at UTSouthwestern Medical Center. This program provided full tuition and fees along with a stipend while he earned both M.D. and Ph.D degress. While at UTSW he benefited immensely from the mentorship of Nobel laureates and several other highly regarded clinicians and scientists. Dr. motola's research investigated nuclear hormone receptor biology in a model organism. His work led to a seminal discovery in the field and has been published in multiple scientific journals.
Internship & Residency
After medical school and graduate training Dr. Motola completed internship and residency training at The Mt. Sinai Hospital. This training also involved care of patients at the Bronx VA Medical Center and at Elmhurst Hospital in Queens. Dr. Motola earned Board Certification in Internal Medicine and is licensed to practice medicine in the state of New York.
Dr. Motola received specialty training in Gastroenterology and Hepatology at The Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH). MGH is affiliated with Harvard University Medical School. Dr. Motola served as a clinical and research fellow while also teaching and mentoring medical students and residents. He is Board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in Gastroenterology.
Dr. Motola completed sub-specialty training in an Advanced Transplant Hepatology Fellowship at the Mt. Sinai. Hospital. He is board eligible in Transplant Hepatology
